Online Auction
Since 1999, our Big Train Base Ball & Holiday Auction has been an important opportunity to bring the Big Train Family together in the offseason, celebrate our victories and our service to the community, and ensure a strong financial foundation to support Big Train baseball.
This year's event will be special as 2022 marks the 25th year our founder Bruce Adams has been working as a volunteer to help bring you the Big Train baseball at Shirley Povich Field that you love. And Halloween is Bruce's 75th birthday. So, this year, we are asking you for a special contribution in celebration of those important milestones. In addition, the Big Train Family is remembering the exemplary life of David Povich, the oldest child of Shirley and Ethyl Povich. David died in August, and the Bethesda Community Base Ball Club has established the David Povich Improvement Fund for Shirley Povich Field. We will be naming the First Base Grandstand in David's memory.
On Sunday November 13 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Davis Family Picnic Pavilion, we held part one of our annual Big Train Base Ball & Holiday Auction. We were joined by our great friend Tim Kurkjian from ESPN will share his reflections on the 2022 MLB season, the World Series, and what it means to him to have been honored at Cooperstown in July with the BBWAA Career Excellence Award. Janet Marie Smith reflected on her career and role in shaping Camden Yards, the ballpark that changed baseball forever, as well as major improvements to Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. We presented our 2022 Randy Schools Big Train Outstanding Service Awards and enjoyed cake and ice cream from Bruster's to celebrate the 75th birthday of Big Train founder Bruce Adams.
