![]() Chris Monaco (Virginia Tech) delivers a warm-up pitch prior to the Big Train's game against the River Dogs. The Big Train's stretch of seven games in seven days ends Monday after the team hosts the Thunderbolts at Shirley Povich Field. The team hit a little hitch over the weekend, but has still managed to win four of the first six games, including a 14-2 dominant victory over the Rockville Express on Sunday night. The Thunderbolts (2-4) have played four of the same team's as the Big Train (4-2); the D.C. Grays, Baltimore Redbirds, Herndon Braves and Rockville Express. Bethesda won three of those four games, only losing to Baltimore by one run, while the Thunderbolts lost to three of the four teams. The Big Train should have the advantage on both sides of the ball as it has scored 20 more runs while allowing 18 less runs than the Thunderbolts. Drew Strotman (St. Mary's) is the Big Train's projected pitcher for the evening. The right-hander has yet to throw for Bethesda this Summer, but appeared in 22 games, starting three, for the Gaels. He finished the season with an ERA of 3.96. Last summer with the Big Train, Strotman started eight games and posted a 4-2 record with a terrific ERA of 2.38 in 37.2 innings pitched. Michael Emodi (Creighton), who is coming off a two-home run game against Rockville on Monday, and Clayton Daniel (Jacksonville State), who is hitting a team-high .450 from the plate and league-leading 9 RBI, will look to continue their recent success against the team that has allowed 11 more hits than any other thus far. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. |
