Vinny Esposito – Infield – (BT 2016 & 2017)

-       Esposito’s season batting average (.235) is probably a little lower than he’d like it to be, but he continues to be a critical source of power in the middle of the Hornets’ lineup – he is tied for first on the team in home runs (5) and second in RBI (25). Over the weekend, he drove in three and hit his second triple of the year, giving him an impressive 12 extra-base hits on the season.

James Outman – Outfield – (BT 2017)

-       Outman, like Esposito, has been providing serious pop in the middle of the Hornets’ lineup all year, and he had another big week: three hits (including his fifth homer), three runs scored and four RBI. He now leads the team in RBI (30), runs (26) and walks (20). He’ll be making his Big Train debut this summer and, alongside Esposito, it certainly looks like the Hornets will be well represented.

San Francisco Dons

Allen Smoot – Infield – (BT 2016)

-       Smoot has been hot at the plate all year and this past weekend was no different: four hits, two RBI and one run in the Dons’ series win over the University of Portland. The redshirt senior is second on the team in batting average (.328), tied for first in RBI (24) and second in home runs (3).

Harrison Bruce – Infield – (BT 2013)

-       Bruce had arguably his best weekend of the season, as he had a total of three hits, scored two runs and drove in another. He raised his average to .284 in the process and remains a perfect 9/9 on the year in stolen bases.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks

Clayton Daniel – Infield – (BT 2016)

-       Daniel is without a doubt one of the hottest hitters in the entire country and on Sunday he did the unthinkable: six hits in six at-bats with seven RBI in the Gamecocks’ 17-7 win over Southeast Missouri. His once-in-a-lifetime performance was the final act of a masterful weekend series, in which he collected a total of 10 hits and boosted his season average to an outrageous .336. Truly incredible stuff from the Junior infielder.

Chipola College Indians

Andrew Bechtold – Infield – (BT 2015)

-       The Indians are an astonishing 37-7 this season, and Andrew Bechtold is undoubtedly the main reason why. He has appeared in 44 games and he is hitting .459 for the season. I repeat: he is hitting .459 for the season. He has 52 RBI and 36 walks, compared to a mere 28 strikeouts, and a ridiculous .568 on-base percentage. The Indians have won eight games in a row, including all four they played this past week, and in these four games Bechtold had a total of eight hits, ten runs, and seven RBI. He is riding a seven-game hitting streak and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Harford College Fighting Owls

Peyton Sorrels – Infield – (BT 2016)

-       Sorrels, much like Bechtold, has been absolutely terrorizing opposing pitchers all season: through 33 games, he’s sporting a .533 average. Let’s run that one back: a .533 average through 33 games. Let’s put it another way: he has almost four times as many hits (57) as he does strikeouts (15). He’s driven in 53 runs and scored 43 more. The Fighting Owls are 33-5-1 on the year and have won 12 in a row and Sorrels has certainly been doing his part.

George Mason Patriots

Logan Driscoll – Catcher – (BT 2017)

-       Driscoll is having a tremendous Freshman campaign and has played a huge part in the Patriots’ current five-game winning streak. Over that span, Driscoll has collected seven hits, scored five runs and driven in three more. He’s leading the team (minimum of 15 games started) in batting average (.345) and OBP (.444). Expect big things out of Driscoll as he makes his Big Train debut this summer.

Michael Smith – Infield – (BT 2016 & 2017)

-       Smith has been on fire lately: in the Patriots’ three-game sweep over University of Dayton this past weekend, Smith picked up six hits, scored six runs and had two RBI. His average is up to .271 for the year and he’s now second on the team with 49 total bases.

Creighton Bluejays

Michael Emodi – Catcher – (BT 2016)

-       Emodi had himself quite a homecoming this weekend when his Bluejays took on the Hoyas at Povich Field: three hits, three runs and three RBI throughout the three-game sweep. His strong performance at his home field of last summer was merely an exclamation point on what has been an impressive season; Emodi leads the Bluejays in home runs (6), RBI (27) and extra-base hits (15).
