As yet another week of the college baseball season passes, Big Train player both past and future are heating up around the country. This week, the best of those was Matt Bowman (BT ’10-12). Bowman helped Princeton to a 3-1 record in a week in which they played double-headers against both Brown and Yale on the road. The Tigers were fueled by Bowman’s ability to reach base throughout the week (9/20, 2BB, 3R, 5RBI, 2B), but he also won a game almost single-handedly on the mound. In the first game against Brown this Sunday, Bowman earned the win while he pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout, allowed only six hits and two walks, and struck out twelve.
Though the stats aren’t glamorous, many Big Train players had an interesting week at Florida Atlantic. The biggest moment was a Mitch Morales (BT ’12) walk-off single to beat Lynn University 3-2 early in the week. Bo Logan (BT ’12) and Ryan Garton (BT ’11) both earned wins this week while Ahmed Garcia (BT ’09) appeared in all four games out of the bullpen (5IP, SV, ER, 8H, 2K). Also of note, Alex Hudak (BT ’11) returned from an injury that had sidelined him for a few weeks.
Other notable hitting performances: Matt Grieb (BT ’11 / Catholic) - 5/12, 4BB, 6R, 3RBI, SB… Darryl Norris (BT ’11-’12 / Mississippi State) - 6/10, 2BB, 2HBP, 2R, 4RBI, 2B… Michael Bass (BT ’11 / UNC-Wilmington) - 5/11, 2BB, RBI, 2SB.
Other notable pitching performances: Ben Griset (BT ’12 / St. Mary’s (CA)) - 6.2IP, 2ER, 7H, BB, HBP, 11K… Martin Agosta (BT ’11 / St. Mary’s (CA)) - 8IP, W, 3ER, 6H, 3BB, 3K… Robbie Kidd (BT ’12 / Tennessee) - 6IP, ER, 3H, 5BB, HBP, 6K.
