Preview: Big Train Hosts Braves to Begin Four-Game Weekend Homestand![]() Allen Smoot (San Francisco) will look to continue his success against the Braves. The previous meeting between the Big Train and the Braves was arguably Bethesda's most exciting game of this season. Herndon jumped out to a quick two-run lead after the first inning, just to see the Big Train erase that deficit in their next at-bat. Two innings later the Braves put up another two-spot to retake their two-run lead. The Big Train didn't tie the score, but again scored a run to not let the momentum fully swing into the Braves favor. Over the next four innings, the Big Train held the Braves scoreless while scoring five runs of their own to capture an 8-4 lead. However the Braves wouldn't go away quietly and managed to score two more runs in their final at-bat. Justin Morris (Maryland) recorded four RBIs for the Big Train in that ball game. Allen Smoot (San Francisco) scored twice and added an RBI of his own in the early-June victory. He will look to carry over his three-hit, three-RBI performance from the Big Train's most recent game. Manager Sal Colangelo's projected starter for Thursday night's game is Logan Gilbert (Stetson). Gilbert (1-0) has allowed just one earned run in 7 1/3 innings of work. In his last outing, Gilbert struck out six batters over 6 1/3 innings, earning his first win of the season. Unlike the first matchup between the two team's this game could have a league-wide effect. Currently the Big Train is tied for the first place lead with the D.C. Grays (whom Bethesda has defeated twice) and the two teams hold a one-game advantage over the Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. |
