In the last exhibition game of the season, Big Train manager Sal Calangelo decided to rest the Big Train's best for the regular season. So with the season starting in just two days, Big Train pitchers threw just two innings.

Robbie Kidd (Tennessee) got the start against fellow CRCBL member, the Herndon Braves. In order to make sure that his arm stayed warm in case the Big Train need him in the coming days, Kidd was one of just  two Big Train players to take the mound on Monday afternoon.

Kidd would pitch out of a jam in his scoreless first inning, but felt he could have had a better day. "It felt good," said Kidd. "It was good to  get back out there. Hopefully I can do better next time."
 
Ryan Doran (San Diego State) also pitched well for the team in the second inning before being taken out in favor of some rented Herndon arms.
 
The Big Train got the bats going early, as they put six runs up on the board in the first four innings including one on a Matt Bowman (Princeton) bases-loaded walk.
 
After taking the early lead, the Big Train decided to focus on the season ahead and with an opposing pitcher and catcher as a battery, the team slowly allowed the Braves to take the lead back.

Due to an agreement by the managers and restrictions on field use, the game was cut short after the middle of the ninth inning with the Big Train trailing 7-6.

The Big Train will go on the road to face the Baltimore Redbirds on Wednesday and the Southern Maryland Nationals on Thursday before returning to Bethesda for their Opening Night celebration on Friday, June 8th, against the Rockville Express.

Injury Update: The injury suffered by catcher Tucker Tobin appears to have been a pinched nerve in his left hand. However, Tobin is scheduled to play in the season-opener against the Baltimore Redbirds.
