Box Score │ Season Stats
An outstanding pitching performance by Adam Redd (Virginia Tech) led the Big Train to a 4-0 victory over the Maryland Orioles before a lively crowd of 611 on a gorgeous Tuesday night at Povich Field.
In the first inning, leadoff batter Jonnie Knoble (San Francisco) singled and advanced to second on a groundout. With two outs, Rhett Teller (St. Leo) walked. Knoble and Teller moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a two RBI single by Drew Carson (Southern Mississippi). Bethesda got two more in the third. With two outs, Teller and Carson hit back-to-back doubles. Carson scored on an RBI single by Andrew Smith (San Francisco).
Redd was sensational, striking out nine and not allowing any Oriole to advance beyond second base. He held the Orioles hitless through four innings, and allowed just four singles, spread across four of the last five innings.
