8-0 Win Makes It Eight in a Row

Teller goes deep, Pease strong in win

Big Train 8, Express 0

Box Score │ Season Stats

Rockville Express starting pitcher Adam Haun (Duquesne) was on a roll at Knights Field on Tuesday afternoon. Under a threatening sky, Haun retired the first seven Big Train batters in order. A single by Trey Cuevas (Southern Mississippi), a fielding error, and a fly out to right followed. But for the error, Haun would have been in the dugout with three shutout innings under his belt. Andrew Smith (San Francisco) singled in Cuevas. Greg Lemon (Salisbury) tripled in Brett Hoeflich (Southern Mississippi), who had reached on the error, and Smith. Rhett Teller (St. Leo) then launched one over the fence in leftfield to score Lemon and give the Big Train a 5-0 lead.

That was more than enough for Big Train starter Dustin Pease (Mount St. Mary's) who allowed only four singles while striking out eight over his eight innings to pick up his third win of the season. Steve Stone (Mount St. Mary's) pitched a perfect ninth to finish the shutout.

Teller and Smith each added two more hits. Jonnie Knoble (San Francisco), Lemon, and Nick Cleckler (Jacksonville State) kept their hitting streaks alive.

WP: Pease (3-0); LP: Haun (1-2)
HR: Teller (1); 3B: Lemon (1)

Big Train Notes: Teller was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored... The 5 p.m. game was played under threatening skies, but no substantial rain fell over Knights Field.
