It was just one of those days. The umpires showed up an hour late. The Big Train couldn't hit. We dropped a routine pop-up to give up the tying run. And we couldn't get a sacrifice bunt down to put the go-ahead run on third.

Adam Olbrychowski (Pepperdine) combined with relievers Kyle Brown (Golden West) and Justin Segal (UC-Santa Barbara) to no hit the Big Train on a hot and humid afternoon at Montgomery College Rockville. Bethesda took advantage of two fielding errors in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Excellent pitching by Dustin Pease (Mount St. Mary's) held the Express scoreless through four. In the bottom of the fifth, with two outs and a runner on first, Mike Murphy (UC-Santa Barbara) hit a pop-up at the plate that popped out of the catcher's glove. Murphy made it hurt, hitting a triple to tie the score at one. In the top of the eighth, the Express reliever tried to return the favor with a two base throwing error to the leadoff batter. But the Big Train couldn't get the sacrifice bunt down and the fly ball that likely would have put Bethesda on top turned into a F-9, 9-5 double play.

In the bottom of the ninth, Pease gave up a bunt single, hit a batter, and gave up a walk to load the bases. Reliever Jimmy Kelly (Middle Tennessee State) replaced Pease and gave up an RBI single up the middle to RJ Brown (UC-Irvine) to end the game.
