Doubleheader sweep knocks Train out of first place

Sunday night the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts shut down the Big Train offense and swept a doubleheader 2-0 and 8-2 before a Povich Field crowd of 824. The Maryland Orioles moved two games ahead in the CRSCBL standings with a doubleheader sweep over the College Park Bombers, and the T'Bolts passed the Big Train in the competition for the Montgomery Cup.

Jonnie Knoble (San Francisco) got all three of the Bethesda hits in the first game. Dustin Pease (Mount St. Mary's) took the loss despite allowing only four hits and one earned run over seven innings. In the second game, starting pitcher Ron Lowe (St. Leo's) struck out 5 of the first nine batters he faced but did not survive the third inning.
