Adam Redd (Virginia Tech) allowed just two hits and one run Saturday afternoon to lead the Big Train to a 5-1 victory over the College Park Bombers at Martin Luther King Regional Park in White Oak, Maryland. With the Big Train win and a doubleheader split by the Maryland Orioles, Bethesda moved to within one-half game of the Orioles with just six games left to play in the regular season.

Jason Lively (Salisbury) nearly matched Redd's performance through six innings, giving up just three hits and two runs. Leadoff batter Jonnie Knoble (San Francisco) walked in the top of the first, was sacrificed to second, and scored on an RBI single by Greg Lemon (Salisbury). Nick Cleckler (Jacksonville State) led off the fourth with a single and scored on an RBI groundout by Andrew Smith (San Francisco). In the top of the seventh, Lively walked the leadoff batter, Rhett Teller (St. Leo) and gave up a single to Bryan Thomas (Virginia Tech). Drew Carson (Southern Mississippi) doubled Teller home. Thomas scored on a sacrifice fly by Brett Hoeflich (Southern Mississippi). Steve Fay (Mount St. Mary's)'s RBI single plated Carson to give Bethesda a 5-1 lead. Russell Durfee (Duke) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the save.

Big Train Notes: Because of the 1 p.m. start of the game against the Bombers, about half the Big Train players made it to RFK to watch the Nationals defeat the Houston Astros Saturday night.
