Jonnie Knoble (San Francisco) led off the first game with a double that the rightfielder fumbled to allow Knoble to go to third. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Greg Lemon (Salisbury). That unearned run was all Ron Lowe (St. Leo) needed as he shut out the Redbirds allowing just three singles over seven innings while striking out four. Only one runner reached second base. Knoble scored an insurance run in the fifth when he bunted his way on with two outs, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Nick Cleckler (Jacksonville State).

In the second inning of the second game, the Redbirds scored two runs on Big Train starter Dustin Pease (Mount St. Mary's) on two walks, a bunt single, and a single. And that was all Redbird starter Mike Santmyer (Towson) would need. The Big Train got one back in the third inning when Ken Beamer (Findlay) reached second on a throwing error by Santmyer and scored on two wild pitches. Santmyer allowed only two hits while pitching a complete game and striking out eight.
