BOMBERS RALLY IN SEVENTH TO DEFEAT BIG TRAIN 4-3
Box Score

The Big Train suffered its second loss in three days Thursday as the College Park Bombers rallied from behind in the seventh inning to win 4-3 at Shipley Field. Big Train starting pitcher Keith Moreland (UNC-Charlotte) was excellent through six innings allowing only one earned run on five hits. After a lead-off walk, a sacrifice, and an RBI single, Moreland left with a 3-2 lead. Reliever Alex Pepe (Florida Atlantic) faced one batter and walked him. Adam Redd (Virginia Tech) gave up two bloop singles and then a solid single down the rightfield line by Bomber designated hitter Mike Rozak (Maryland) to fall behind 4-3. Redd retired the next five batters, but the damage was done.

The Big Train were first on the scoreboard when Chris Taylor (UNC-Charlotte) drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the second that scored Steven Leach (Jacksonville State) who had singled. The Bombers were quick to answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning as Chris Nann (Northern Kentucky) started the inning off with a double to right-center field and was then driven in by Joel Gonzalez (Prince Georges CC) on a single to right. In the top of third, Nick Cleckler (Jacksonville State) led off with a bunt single that was followed by Luke Adkins' (Southern Mississippi) double to the gap in left-center. With men on second and third, Preston Pehrson (Texas), the hero from Wednesday night, answered the call again with a base hit to score Cleckler. Adkins scored on an RBI groundout by Leach. Bomber starting pitcher Jim Britton (St. Bonaventure) allowed only one more hit through the sixth. Reliever Adam Leblow (Tennessee-Martin) got the win, retiring nine Bethesda batters while walking two. Pepe took the loss, walking the only batter he faced. The 4-5-6 batters for the Bombers -- Nann, Rozak, and Matt Bodenchuk (Mesa State) -- each had two hits as the Bombers out hit the Big Train 9 to 5.
