T'BOLTS WIN 8-7 IN TENTH FRIDAY NIGHT AT BLAIR
Box Score
On Wednesday night, Big Train pitchers allowed the first batter to reach base in every inning from the second through the eighth. Only two scored, and we won the game. Friday night at Blair Stadium in Silver Spring, we weren't so lucky. Six of ten lead-off T'Bolts reached base -- three of them on walks -- and four of them scored including the winning run in the tenth inning. The Thunderbolts jumped on Big Train starter Brian Anderson (San Francisco) for three runs in the bottom of the first on a lead-off walk, doubles by Gerardo Hernandez (MC-Rockville) and Charlie Lenhard (Akron) and a single by Jeffrey Jones (William & Mary). But when Anderson left the game after four innings, the Big Train led 7-4. Bethesda scored seven unanswered thanks in part to two T'Bolt errors that led to four unearned runs. Preston Pehrson (Texas) doubled home two runs in the top of the third and scored on an RBI groundout by Brian Dozier (Southern Mississippi) to tie the score at three. Matt Long (Santa Clara) had a three RBI bad hop triple in the fourth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke Adkins (Southern Mississippi) to give the Big Train a four run margin. The Thunderbolts didn't fold. Single runs in the fourth, sixth, seventh (a home run by Lenhard), and eighth allowed them to pull even. In the bottom of the tenth, Big Train reliever Wyatt Stewart (Richmond) walked lead-off batter Cory Greene (Coppin State) who was sacrificed to second. The next batter was walked intentionally and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. The fourth batter was also walked intentionally to load the bases with one out. Nate Toth (Radford) lined a single into left centerfield to end the game.
