Big Train Notes: Mrs. Leon Day, the widow of the Hall of Fame Negro League hurler, graced Povich Field on Saturday night. The Leon Day Foundation put on an amazing display of Negro League memorabilia for the Big Train's Tribute to Black Baseball. With Mrs. Day on the mound and at bat, Big Train fans got to see a demonstration of "Shadow Ball" on the field before the game. Barry Svrluga of The Washington Post and Super Fan Alan Alper signed copies of National Pastime, a history of the first year of baseball back in Washington. Families of our Big Train players in town for our Family Weekend were recognized before the game. Our sponsor was Ourisman Ford. Ron Weber, the former voice of the Washington Capitals, was our public address announcer Saturday night.
