After a tremendous start to the season at Povich Field -- winning all five games by a combined score of 37-10 -- the Big Train had a tough Monday night against the Herndon Braves, losing 7-2.

The Big Train took an early lead, pushing across a run in the first inning. Mike Celenza (Salisbury) came around to score after the Braves' 2nd baseman dropped a Jarrod Parks (Mississippi State) fly ball.

The Braves quickly answered, tying the game with back-to-back doubles in the top of the second inning.

After the Braves took a 2-1 lead in the top of third, the Big Train tied the game in the fourth inning by capitalizing on another fielding blunder by the Braves. Back-to-back errors lead to a Jordan King (Meridian CC) run, evening the score at 2-2.

In the top of 6th inning, the Braves loaded the bases with nobody out, as a hit-by-pitch was followed by consecutive bunt singles. The Big Train mitigated the damage, allowing only one run in the inning, but that was enough for the Braves to take the lead for good. The Braves added four insurance runs in the ninth inning to close the game at 7-2.
