BT beat T-Bolts

In front of a crowd of 1,002 on "A Great Night to be a Kid," the Bethesda Big Train extended their lead in the CRSL standings with a 13-5 victory over the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts. The night was filled with a carnival, a petting zoo, My Gym activities, and a hitting clinic as the Big Train bats caught fire early and didn't go out until the game was over. Bethesda finished the game with 12 hits and 13 runs.

After the Thunderbolts touched Bethesda starting pitcher Tyler Pilkington (UNC-Charlotte) for a run in the top of the first inning, the Big Train tacked on a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Center fielder Connor Bernatz (San Francisco) reached on an error and advanced to second base on a high chopper by right fielder Eli Boike (Michigan State). Bernatz then stole his 12th base of the season before he was brought home on a single by second baseman Danny Stienstra (San Jose State). Bernatz is still perfect on stolen bases this year.

The Thunderbolts threatened in the third inning against reliever Seth Hester (Southern Mississippi) in his first inning of work, as two runners reached base with just one out. After a strikeout, Big Train left fielder Jack Mosbacher (Stanford) made an incredible diving catch (below) near the foul line to save at least one run.
