On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded reliever Steve Schmoll (BT 2000) to the New York Mets for pitchers Jae Seo and Tim Hamulack. The Mets also received reliever Duaner Sanchez in the trade.
The submariner Schmoll went 2-2 with a 5.01 ERA with three saves in 48 appearances for the Dodgers in 2005. Schmoll also pitched at Triple-A Las Vegas and compiled a 0-3 record and 4.78 ERA with five saves in 22 games. Schmoll was signed by the Dodgers as an undrafted free agent in 2003.
The Silver Spring native and Magruder H.S./University of Maryland alum pitched for the Bethesda Big Train in 2000 with fellow Major Leaguer John Maine (Baltimore Orioles/BT 2000).
