Big Train Summer Softball Camps

The Bethesda Big Train recognizes that girls fastpitch softball has been under-served in lower Montgomery County. This summer, the Big Train is presenting softball camps for beginners and for High School players. Some girls find the transition from recreational softball to fastpitch to be too intimidating, and they drop out of the sport. The Big Train Summer Softball Camp is the perfect place to get exposure to the fastpitch game in a no-pressure atmosphere with a support system of knowledgeable coaches.
Dr. Maura Ryan, Head Varsity Softball Coach at Paint Branch High School, will run the camps with her long-time associate Mike Miller. Dr. Ryan, a 20-year fastpitch pitcher, is the Director of the Pitching Camp at Springbrook and Paint Branch High Schools and the pitching instructor for the Olney Boys & Girls Club softball league. Mr. Miller has 35 years of experience coaching women athletes of all ages and skill levels, most recently with the Montgomery Village Storm select softball program. A college soccer and baseball player, Mr. Miller was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. Emily Adams, a pitcher-first baseman for Washington College, will serve as the camp coordinator. Susan Miller, a pitcher for the University of Pennsylvania, will return as a camp counselor this summer.
