Enjoy the excitement of a Big Train Party Picnic at Povich Field! What better way to celebrate a birthday or the end of the baseball or softball season, to get the family together, or to have a company outing than by joining Homer and the Big Train at Povich Field! When you register your party picnic for any Big Train home date, space will be reserved for your group under the Davis Family Picnic Pavilion for a pre-game meal! During our pre-game First Pitch Ceremony, any birthday boy or girl celebrating their special day with a party at Povich Field will get to toss out a ceremonial first pitch and all children attending the game as part of a party picnic will get to join the Big Train players on the field during the singing of the National Anthem.

 

Schedule of events:

  • 6 p.m. Guests may arrive
  • 6:15 p.m. Food served
  • 6:30 - 6:45 Homer, the Big Train dog, will visit your group's party
  • 7:20 p.m. First pitch ceremony on the field
  • 7:30 p.m. Game begins (games last about 2 hours and 45 minutes, but many groups with young children leave before the games are over)

    Seating: Choose between reserved seating in the grandstands or in the bleachers just beyond the first-base side grandstand. Reserved seats in the grandstands cost $7 per adult and $3 per kid (12 years & under) and reserved seats in the bleachers cost $5 per adult and are free for kids (12 years & under).

    Food: Choose from three food options for your 2007 party at Povich Field.

  • The Big Train Party Pack: Ledo Pizza and/or kosher hot dogs (one hot dog and/or pizza per person maximum) and one Honest Kids juice box, Honest Ade, or bottled water per person. Price: $11 per adult, $7 per kid (12 & under)

  • The Deli Picnic Pack: Super-sized sub, large garden or Caesar salad, fresh Bean Bag Deli cookies or brownies, and one Honest Kids juice box, Honest Ade, or bottled water per person. Price: $12.50 per adult, $8.50 per kid (12 & under)

  • The Italian Feast: Ledo specialty pasta dish (choice of one: lasagna, penne with chicken, spaghetti with meatballs, or baked ziti), large Caesar salad, fresh Bean Bag Deli cookies or brownies, and one Honest Kids juice box, Honest Ade, or bottled water per person. Must have at least 12 people in the party.Price: $12.50 per adult, $8.50 per kid (12 & under)

  • If you plan on bringing birthday cake as part of your picnic please provide your own utensils, plates, napkins, etc.

  • A La Carte Menu: A la carte menu options, including additional hot dogs, pizza, snacks, ice cream, funnel cake, Bean Bag cookies, and Auntie Anne's pretzels will be available for 2008. Please contact our picnic coordinator, Mollie Semmes (picnics@bigtrain.org) for ordering information.

  • Goody Bags! Ask us about our party favor options. We can arrange for everyone at the party to get their very own Big Train T-shirt or hat. Ask about other souvenir options, we can be flexible!

  • Photography: Please contact Big Train photographer Lisa Kammerman (301-229-1383) for premium photo packages for your event.

    Rain Policy: If the Big Train game is cancelled for any reason before 6 p.m. on the date of the game, you will not be charged for your picnic. If the game is not cancelled before 6 p.m., but you decide to reschedule or cancel your picnic before 3 p.m. on the date of the game, you will not be charged for the picnic. If you decide to reschedule or cancel your picnic after 3 p.m., you will be charged (unless the game is cancelled before 6 p.m.) and given rain check tickets for another Big Train home game. Even if the game is cancelled, you can still have your picnic under the covered roof of the Davis Family Picnic Pavilion and receive rain check tickets for another Big Train home game.
