The Richards Family on Exfair hosts a Big Train Player

The Big Train was established with visions of baseball and community in mind. There are many ways that you can be involved in the Big Train experience at Shirley Povich Field. From financial contributions through the purchase of season passes and game-night sponsorships to participation as a Big Train volunteer or host family, every effort you make towards the Big Train goes a long way in enhancing the Big Train community and helps us to reach our goals of restoring youth baseball and softball fields in Montgomery County and the District of Columbia.

Take Big Train Home:
Host a Player This Season!

Our players are collegiate athletes under 21 years of age who come from all over the country. We are looking for families to share their homes with a Big Train player during the upcoming 2007 season. Players stay with families from late May through July or early August.

Love to watch Baseball?
Have kids who play in Little League?
Get a kick out of lazy summer nights at the ball park?
Then host a Bethesda Big Train player this summer, and get ready for the summer of your life!!

Let your family scream themselves silly when your very own player comes up to bat or pitches a game. With your own player, a recruit from a local or long-distance college, staying with you, you and your family will have a personal interest in the team that you’ve never felt before. For your kids, this is the stuff of dreams!!

Every year, players from out of town are hosted by local families. This year, we are looking for a few new host families to become involved in the Big Train season. If you are interested in hosting a player, or would like to know more about it, please give us a call. We can give you details, or we can put you in touch with current host families who would be glad to let you know about their experiences.

The Big Train season begins in early June (players will be reporting on June 2nd unless they are playing in their college’s post season) and runs through the end of July, with one week of playoffs scheduled for the first week of August.
