Jewish Baseball Heritage Night ::

Date: Thursday June 23, 2016
Time: 12:00 PM

Join Aviva Kempner and Rabbi David Shneyer to Honor Hank Greenberg on Jewish Baseball Heritage Night Thursday June 23

The Bethesda Big Train will honor barrier breaker and Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg by retiring his number 5 at the Thursday June 23 Big Train game. Greenberg's #5 will hang on the outfield wall at Shirley Povich Field in perpetuity next to the numbers of baseball's two other historic barrier breakers, Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente.

At 6:30 p.m. before the game, Aviva Kempner, producer of the fabulous documentary The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, will give a talk about what Greenberg meant to the Jewish community and to America. Rabbi David Shneyer will entertain. During the game, Rabbi David will perform a Yiddish Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Come out and have a great time while keeping the legacy of one of America's all-time great Jewish superstars alive.

Email Grace Nicoll at gracenicoll1@gmail.com to reserve your seat at the 6:30pm picnic: $18/adults and $12/kids. Game tickets are free for all who buy a picnic courtesy of the Fund for Montgomery.
