Big Train host Grays on Nationals Night at Povich Field

by Staff

For the first time in nearly a week, Big Train are back at Shirley Povich Field to take on the D.C. Grays in the teams' second meeting of the season. Bethesda has continued to flourish since its last home game, defeating the Baltimore Redbirds and FCA Braves on the road to improve to 7-0.

Outfielder Justin Wylie (Arizona) leads the team and the Cal Ripken League in both home runs (4) and RBIs (11). Bethesda dominated their first contest against the Grays in the season opener on June 5 in D.C., winning 11-2 after taking an 8-0 lead in the first three innings.

The Grays are now 3-6 and are fourth in the South Division after losing an 11-inning game to the Rockville Express on Thursday night.

The Grays have been led at the plate this season by infielder John Marti, who had compiled a .385 batting average and 10 hits through June 13.

LHP Tuck Tucker (Maryland) will make his second start of the season for Big Train. Tucker helped Bethesda to a 20-1 win over the Gaithersburg Giants in his previous start on June 6.

The Grays will start Michael Delio.

First pitch on Friday night at Povich Field will be at 7:00 p.m. It will be Nationals Night at the ballpark, and fans are encouraged to wear their Nats gear to the game. Racing president Abe Lincoln will be in attendance.
