Big Train Look To Build Momentum In Gaithersburg

by Lily Stewart

Tuesday night, the Bethesda Big Train (3-2) snapped a two-game losing skid with a dominating 12-0 victory over the T-Bolts.

Back on track, Bethesda will now look to make it two in a row as Wednesday they will travel north to take on the first place Gaithersburg Giants (5-1). The two teams met in the pre-season as Bethesda rolled past Gaithersburg by a score of 5-0. However, a lot has changed since that last meeting. Gaithersburg is off to a hot-start in 2019 as they enter play Wednesday at 5-1 on the season and riding a three-game win streak.

Offensively Cade Doughty (LSU) who will be a freshman this upcoming season hasn’t just been the Giants best hitter, but arguably the best hitter in the entire Cal Ripken league. Doughty is batting a blazing hot .526 which leads the league. As for Bethesda, no one has been more reliable at the dish than Kobe Kato (Arizona). Kato is batting .500 and has posted an on-base percentage of .625 as he’s drawn seven walks and recorded six hits this season.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Gaithersburg’s Criswell Automotive Field located at Kelley Park. Can’t make it to the game? Tune into Mixlr where Alex Drain and Shaun Salehi will be on the call.
