Big Train To Travel North For Doubleheader With Giants

by Staff

For the second straight day, the Big Train (11-4) will play a doubleheader. After splitting a doubleheader in D.C. against the Grays Friday, Bethesda will travel to Gaithersburg to play two games with the Giants (6-8) Saturday.

It will be the third time meeting this season between the two teams. The Big Train have won both meetings, as on June 12 they won 8-2 in Gaithersburg, and on June 15 Bethesda pitched a combined no. Bethesda will enter Saturday winners of eight of their last ten, and holding a three-game lead for first place in the Cal Ripken League.

As for the Giants, they have struggled mightily of late. After starting the season 5-1 and in first place, they have dropped seven of their last eight and now sit just a half of game out of the bottom of the standings. Saturday’s doubleheader will consist of one nine inning game and a seven inning game. The doubleheader will start at 4:30 p.m. at Gaithersburg’s Criswell Automotive Field At Kelley Park.
